AI has been moving like a wildfire through post production houses as a tool used to edit, color grade, audio mix, and so much more. When it comes to making movies, I think one of the most important things you can add to a project is passion. The human soul and ability to feel gives editors an edge that AI could never replicate. If you want to churn out movies fast then by all means, generate a Hallmark film. Real cinema however requires you to care and I don’t think AI could ever do what humans do in a creative space. I’m all for AI taking the jobs of pencil pushers or formatting documents, but if we start bringing AI into the creative process then we start to rely on it. Humans are creatives by nature, and if we start looking at creativity as something to speed up and become less involved in then we lose the joy of creativity as a whole. This to me is what separates Hollywood from Indie film makers. Everything done in Hollywood is made with maximum efficiency and tries to generate the most profit without worry of what the population is actually consuming. Indie films are made as ways to express what it is to be human, and are made simply for the joy that comes with creating. The ability to create and express yourself through creative outlets is a gift, and in recent years people seem to have forgotten the importance it has.
